V-S Voyagers to perform October 8th
The Vinton-Shellsburg Voyagers will be performing at the 8th Annual Kirkwood Fall Dance fundraiser. You can watch them at Kirkwood's Johnson Hall on October 8th. Annual Fundraising Event Benefits Garrison Fire Department ‘Garrison’s Haunted’ is back and better than ever for 2022! Garrison Firefighters and volunteers are ready to rain terror on those who dare to cross its threshold. The Shellsburg Lions Club will be holding a Bingo night on Oct.15 at the Shellsburg American Legion from 6:00 to 8:00 pm. The final Black Out game will have a guarantee of $50. The Legion will be serving food and drink.

The Vinton Aquatic Club will be holding a multi-family garage sale to support the club, The sale will be held this Saturday, October 1, from 8:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at 1209 A Ave. in Vinton. Some of the items so far include: Kids air hockey table, air fryer, Roomba, kids kitchenette, kids slide, balance bike, kids bikes, indoor trampolines, outdoor play house, foot bath, rain barrel, baby clothing and diapers, sports gear, 40 gallon animal tanks. Hannen Lake Park to host Chili Cook Off October 1
The Hannen Lake Park chili cook-off will be held Saturday, Oct. 1, at White Oak Shelter, Hannen Lake Park, 1949 Benton Iowa Road, Blairstown.Chili cook-off registration will be from 11:30 a.m. to noon, with judging held at 2 p.m. Entry fee is $20 per recipe; limit one entry per person. Grand prizes will be awarded for first, second and third places and include two weeks of camping, a Hannen Lake Cedar Cabin weekend getaway and one weekend of camping.
